Cancer. A disease that impacts millions globally, whether it is a personal diagnosis
or the diagnosis of a loved one, or someone in your community. It can turn your life
upside down. Emotional stress, regular tests and possible treatment may be difficult
to control; however, one thing we can control on this journey is our movement.
Exercise is recognised as a very powerful tool in cancer prevention and recovery.
Research has shown exercise to have positive effects on reducing the risk of certain
cancers. It also has glowing benefits during treatment, including fatigue reduction,
improved mental health, better treatment tolerance, enhanced recovery and healing,
and lowers the risk of recurrence.
What exercise is right for me? How much exercise do I have to do? These are a
couple of questions cancer survivors often ask. But the answer can be very different
for each person. This is why it is super important to consult your medical team first
and consider speaking to an Exercise Physiologist for tailored exercise treatment.
