A Different Kind of Gym.
Safe. Supportive. Evidence-Based.

Frequently Asked Questions

After many years, I have got back into the Gym and have found Chaotic Energy to be first class. It is a very boutique experience, being a calm and relaxed environment, not crowded, with high-quality equipment and access to expert advice. As someone getting back into training and at the ‘back end’ of the age scale, this has been the perfect environment for me to remain motivated. Chaotic energy is a real find, compared with mass-franchised, loud and crowded alternatives.

Exercise Physiology focuses on treating people living with chronic disease, persistent pain, or long-term health conditions through personalised, evidence-based exercise. We do not provide manual therapy. Instead, we take a holistic approach, considering external factors such as lifestyle, stress, and environment that may be affecting your health, not just the immediate problem.

Physiotherapy, on the other hand, generally treats the acute phase of an injury or condition. Physiotherapists may provide manual therapy (like hands-on treatment or dry needling) and prescribe some basic strengthening exercises. Often, once the initial pain or injury is stabilised, they will refer clients to an Exercise Physiologist for long-term management, rehabilitation, and ongoing support.

At Chaotic Energy, we work closely with local physiotherapists to ensure a smooth transition from short-term treatment to sustainable, long-term health outcomes.

Yes, many clients are eligible for rebates. Exercise Physiology is recognised under a range of funding options, including:

  • Private Health Insurance – most funds provide rebates for sessions (check with your provider for your level of cover).
  • Medicare – if you have a GP Management Plan (for chronic conditions), you may be eligible for subsidised sessions.
  • NDIS – Chaotic Energy is a registered NDIS provider, and Exercise Physiology can be funded under relevant plans.
  • Workers Compensation, DVA & Other Schemes – rebates may be available depending on your circumstances.

We recommend checking with your GP, private health fund, or plan manager to confirm your entitlements.

No referral is required to join as a gym member or to book Exercise Physiology sessions. However, some clients may choose to be referred by their GP or healthcare provider, particularly for chronic disease management plans or NDIS participants.

Yes, we always say “Exercise is Medicine.” If you’re experiencing pain on the day of your appointment, we can safely modify your program to keep you moving within your pain-free limits.

Every session is tailored to you and your goals. Adaptability is our superpower; we adjust and modify exercises as needed so you can keep progressing without flaring up pain.

You should see an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) if you want safe, personalised exercise to manage a health condition, recover from injury, or improve your long-term wellbeing. Common reasons include:

  • Recovering from surgery, injury, or illness
  • Improving balance, mobility, or independence as you age
  • Support with chronic pain, fatigue, or neurological conditions
  • Guidance for safe exercise during pregnancy, postnatal recovery, or menopause
  • Building confidence and fitness in a supportive, clinical environment
